In a recent study by Forbes Advisor, Singapore has been crowned the safest city in the world for tourists. The study meticulously analysed various safety parameters, and evaluated 60 international destinations, focusing on crime, healthcare quality, infrastructure, and risks related to natural disasters and digital security. Singapore's remarkable actions in every aspect helped it get the perfect score of 0 points, indicating the lowest possible risk across all categories assessed.

The research assigned safety scores from 0 to 100, with lower scores representing higher safety levels. Singapore's exceptional performance was largely attributed to its minimal risk of natural disasters and its second-lowest health and infrastructure risks. The city's healthcare system, renowned for its efficiency and quality, played a significant role in its high safety rating. Furthermore, Singapore demonstrated robust infrastructure, contributing to its top position.

In addition to its overall safety, Singapore also excelled in digital security. The study assessed digital security risks based on the ability to use the internet without fear of online threats or privacy breaches. Singapore ranked second in this category, reflecting its strong measures to protect online users and maintain digital privacy.

Following Singapore, the study recognised Tokyo and Toronto as the next safest cities for travelers. Tokyo's top ranking in health security highlights the city's excellent healthcare services, while its fifth-lowest infrastructure security risk further supports its status as a safe destination. Toronto, too, was impressed with its overall safety and robust infrastructure.

The study's top ten list of safest cities includes a diverse array of locations. Alongside Singapore, Tokyo, and Toronto, other safe cities featured are Sydney, Zurich, Copenhagen, Seoul, Osaka, Melbourne, and Amsterdam. Notably, Japan and Australia had two cities each in the top ten, showcasing their commitment to safety and quality of life.

Conversely, the study also highlighted the riskiest cities for travelers. Caracas, Venezuela, emerged as the least safe city with a score of 100 points, reflecting severe issues with health security, crime, and infrastructure. The US State Department's advisory on Venezuela warns of crime, civil unrest, and poor healthcare, marking it as a high-risk destination. Karachi, Pakistan, followed as the second riskiest city, with significant personal security risks and ongoing violence. Yangon in Myanmar, Lagos in Nigeria, Manila in the Philippines, and Dhaka in Bangladesh rounded out the list of the most unsafe cities.

The Forbes Advisor study offers valuable insights for travellers seeking safe destinations and underscores the importance of considering various safety factors when planning trips. With Singapore leading the way in global safety, tourists can enjoy peace of mind while exploring this vibrant and secure city.
